Modulator Update

May 27, 2012

An updated version of Modulator has been released, following user feedback and suggestions. Most of the upgrades are based around voice and mono/poly controls. While I realize that sounds quite boring, it actually makes a substantial difference in the quality of the synth, in my opinion. Changes include:

– Voice control for Mono/Legato modes allows up to 8 voices at once. Good for huge basses!

– Stereo Spread for Uni 2, Uni 4, Mono and Legato modes.

– Glide for Mono/Legato.

– Trilling adding to Legato mode.

– Removed pitchbend depth for space.

– Added an overdrive distortion section that boosts the signal, soft clips it, then mixes it back with the original signal.

– Added master volume control.

– Updated manual.

Thanks for this update, I have a question regarding the organization of the “pitch gate” macro.

Is there a reason or a benefit to the way you have put “Spread 2” and “Spread 4” into instruments instead of macros? I was thinking about copying and pasting them into macros so that the spread 2 & 4 would no longer show up in my instruments list, but I wanted to check to see if there was a specific reason that they should stay in instruments instead.

they won’t work otherwise. the reason for them is that making voice handling is really obnoxious in reaktor. it’s a lot easier to let reaktor do the logic for which voices to use and just to double or quadruple them (you’ll notice that uni 2 is made with a 4 voice instrument, and uni 4 is made with a 2 voice instrument).

I understand now, thank you very much.
