Constant Power Panning
If you’ve ever used the Stereo Mixer module in Reaktor you might have noticed it has a strange effect – the perceived amplitude of the outputs can change depending on the position of the panning knob. In fact, if you send a signal with an amplitude of 1, and hard pan it either left or right, the output of that channel will have an amplitude of 2!
Fortunately we can fix this problem with a bit of math:
If you sweep the panning knob using this structure, the position of the sound will change, but the perceived amplitude will stay constant. I find this to be a useful macro because the default module often causes signals to clip when hard panned, and this way sounds cleaner if the panning is automated.
